Tallahassee Police Arrest Four Following String of Family Dollar Burglaries

The Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) has arrested four individuals from Texas in connection with a multi-state burglary spree targeting Family Dollar stores across the southern United States, utilizing License Plate Reader (LPR) technology to assist in the investigation.

On January 12, 2026, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Bureau were notified by the Pensacola Police Department (PPD) of a burglary spree targeting Family Dollar stores. Through shared intelligence and the use of LPR technology, detectives were able to quickly determine the suspects had entered Tallahassee and were likely to continue the spree locally.

Working quickly with partnering agencies, including the Leon County Sheriff's Office and the Real Time Crime Center (RTCC), officers observed the suspects as they cut the power and attempted to burglarize the first Family Dollar. The suspects then traveled to a second Family Dollar, where a burglary did occur.

Following the second burglary, coordinated efforts allowed officers to prevent the suspects’ vehicle from leaving the parking lot, and all individuals involved were taken into custody. A search of the vehicle revealed multiple burglary tools and evidence linking them to the burglaries.

• Tyler Foster, 21, for burglary of a structure (2 counts), possession of burglary tools, and criminal mischief
• Daylon Malcom, 24, for burglary of a structure (2 counts), possession of burglary tools, and criminal mischief
• Jylen William, 25, for burglary of a structure (2 counts), possession of burglary tools, and criminal mischief
