Tallahassee Police Make Arrest in Fatal Meridian Street Shooting

Thursday, Feb. 23, the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) arrested one suspect in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on Jan. 19 in the 2200 block of South Meridian Street at approximately 8:30 p.m.
Following a thorough investigation by TPD's Violent Crimes Unit, it was determined four adult males were sitting in a vehicle when the arrestee approached the vehicle and attempted to rob them by pointing a firearm through an open window. The three passengers were able to quickly exit the vehicle and run to safety. The driver attempted to run and was subsequently shot by the arrestee. He later died at a local hospital.
Detectives obtained physical evidence and executed searches where the arrestee was known to frequent in the 1700 block of Keith Street and the 500 block of Magnolia Drive to help develop probable cause for an arrest.

Keith Ford, 23, for second-degree murder with a firearm and possession of a firearm by a felon.
