Reese Goad Begins Term on the Florida City and County Management Association Board of Directors
June 06, 2023
Tallahassee City Manager Reese Goad was elected by his peers to the Florida City and County Management Association (FCCMA) Board of Directors this week. He will initially serve for the 2023-2024 term and is one of three at-large directors on the 15-member board. FCCMA is a professional organization of practicing public administrators from Florida's cities and counties.
"As public servants, we have the great fortune to make a difference each day," Goad said. "It's my honor to represent the City of Tallahassee on the FCCMA Board of Directors because the actions that we in local government take today impact the quality of our collective future."
In May, Goad was honored by the Florida League of Cities as a 2023 Home Rule Hero Award recipient. He earned this prestigious award for his hard work and unwavering efforts to protect the Home Rule powers of Florida's municipalities during the 2023 legislative session.
Goad has worked for the City of Tallahassee for more than 20 years and was appointed City Manager in September 2018. Under his leadership, the City has made positive gains thanks to strategic efforts to address affordable housing, invest in infrastructure, heighten community resilience and encourage a growing economy. He leads a highly skilled and diverse workforce of nearly 4,000 dedicated employees who strive to make Tallahassee a place we are proud to call home. As City Manager, Goad reports directly to the City Commission and is responsible for maintaining the management functions of city government and administering the day-to-day operations.
With his leadership, the City has been named one of the South's Best Cities, designated as the top public utility in the country, earned distinction as a Gold level LEED-certified City and maintained designation as a Tree City USA, among numerous other industry-specific honors.
"The lifeblood of any association is its active members, and we are very grateful for the dedicated leadership, vision and hard work of our board of directors," said Michael Grebosz, Assistant City Manager for the City of DeLand and FCCMA President. "I want to thank the new board for volunteering to represent their respective regions and for their commitment to leading the Association for 2023-24."
FCCMA was formed in 1946 and is an affiliate of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA). FCCMA has more than 600 members across Florida. It is a member-driven, ethical, inclusive organization committed to the council-manager and commission-manager forms of government, dedicated to effective partnerships with elected officials, devoted to the advancement of excellence in professional management of local government in the state of Florida and determined to provide quality of service to its membership and the local governments it serves.
