Pipe Replacement Project Set to Begin on South Monroe Street
Road Closures Planned for Weekends of Oct. 3 and 10
September 25, 2020
As part of its continued investment in infrastructure, the City of Tallahassee is making wastewater system improvements along South Monroe Street. This work is necessary to enhance system reliability in the southern portion of the community by rehabilitating roughly 500 feet of sewer pipe under the roadway.
Construction on this project, which will take place during the weekends of Oct. 3 and 10, comes ahead of the Florida Department of Transportation's South Monroe Street Resurfacing Project, which is slated for early 2021.
To create a safe work zone for the construction crew and motorists, South Monroe Street between east and west Polk Drive will be closed to traffic during the weekends of Oct. 3 and 10 from 8 p.m. on Friday to 6 a.m. on Monday.
During these closures, traffic will be rerouted via South Adams Street, Orange Avenue and Magnolia Drive. Detours will be clearly marked. Access to businesses within the work zone will be maintained at all times, and additional signage will be incorporated to provide clear direction to motorists as to the most convenient way to access those businesses.
