TFD Responds to Structure Fire on South Bronough Street

July 10, 2026

At approximately 3:47 p.m. on July 9, the Tallahassee Fire Department (TFD) was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 500 S. Bronough Street.

Firefighters arrived to find an exterior fire associated with construction activities that had extended into the walls of an eight-story building. The fire had spread from the second floor toward the third floor on the south side of the structure. Construction workers were safely outside upon crews’ arrival, and firefighters assisted with evacuating the building.

Crews deployed hose lines, breached walls and checked for fire extension, successfully stopping the fire before it could spread beyond the wall space. Firefighters contained the fire to the second-floor wall cavity, preventing further vertical extension into the upper floors. Primary and secondary searches confirmed no occupants remained inside the building.

Firefighters completed overhaul operations to ensure the fire was fully extinguished before clearing the scene. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

TFD was assisted on scene by the Tallahassee Police Department, FDLE Capitol Police, Leon County EMS and City of Tallahassee Utilities.
