TFD Responds to Residential Fire on Marion Avenue

At approximately 3:19 p.m., the Tallahassee Fire Department (TFD) was dispatched to a reported structure fire on Marion Avenue.

Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke coming from a two-story residential home. Fire crews made entry and located a fire in the basement, quickly bringing the flames under control. A thorough search of the residence was completed, and it was confirmed that no people were inside at the time of the fire. During operations, firefighters rescued a cat from the home.

The cause of the fire is believed to be possibly electrical in nature.

The Tallahassee Fire Department was assisted on scene by City of Tallahassee Utilities, Tallahassee Police Department and Leon County EMS.

This marks the first residential structure fire of December, and as part of our "Keep the Wreath Green" initiative, one green bulb on the wreath will be replaced with a red one.
