Tallahassee Police Arrest Suspect in Mission Road Homicide
February 19, 2026
The Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) has arrested one individual in connection with a homicide that occurred on February 17 within the 2800 block of Mission Road.
Following a swift and thorough investigation, detectives with TPD’s Violent Crimes Unit determined that the victim and the suspect, 34-year-old Gage Champion, were known to one another and had been involved in an argument in the days leading up to the homicide.
On the day of the homicide, both the victim and suspect were observed inside the residence together. Later that evening, officers responded to the same residence and located the victim deceased, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Through investigative efforts, including evidence collection and witness statements, detectives quickly established probable cause for an arrest. After consulting with the State Attorney’s Office, arrest warrants were obtained. Champion was subsequently taken into custody on February 18, 2026, in Crawfordville, Florida.
This arrest reflects TPD’s continued commitment to conducting thorough investigations and holding those responsible for violent crimes accountable. Anyone with information about criminal activity is encouraged to contact TPD at 850-891-4200 or provide an anonymous tip through Crime Solvers at 850-574-TIPS.
