TPD Arrests Man on Human Trafficking Charges
Missing and Endangered Minor Recovered
October 20, 2026
The Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) arrested 43-year-old Terrence Lee of Ft. Lauderdale on multiple charges related to human trafficking and child exploitation on Monday, Oct. 19.
The arrest followed a coordinated, multi-agency effort to locate a missing and endangered minor. Shortly before 1 p.m. on Oct. 19, TPD was contacted by an out-of-state law enforcement agency requesting assistance in locating the minor, who was believed to be traveling with an adult male.
After the out-of-state agency entered the vehicle's information into an automated license plate reader (ALPR) system, a privately operated camera mounted on a tow truck detected the vehicle in Tallahassee. The information was provided to TPD by the out-of-state agency, allowing officers to locate the vehicle at a motel in the 2800 block of North Monroe Street.
Within minutes of arriving, officers apprehended Lee without incident.
Officers conducted a thorough search of the motel and located the minor hiding beneath a bathroom sink.
TPD's Special Victims Unit assumed the investigation and determined Lee traveled from South Florida to another state, where he picked up the minor. He trafficked the child across multiple state lines, including Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. Detectives further determined Lee had posted online advertisements seeking to sexually exploit the minor for financial gain.
“Every child deserves to feel safe, and when that safety is threatened, we have a responsibility to act,” Tallahassee Police Chief Lawrence Revell said. “This case is an example of strong coordination between law enforcement agencies and the dedication of our officers and detectives to help those in danger. We will pursue every lead to hold those responsible accountable.”
The investigation remains active, and additional arrests are possible. Anyone with information related to this case is encouraged to contact TPD at 850-891-4200 or remain anonymous by calling Big Bend Crime Solvers at 850-574-TIPS. Additionally, anyone who suspects human trafficking activity is encouraged to contact local law enforcement or the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-888-373-7888.
Arrested: Terrence Lee, 43, for human trafficking of a person under 18 years of age, lewd or lascivious battery, possession of child pornography, possession with intent to promote child pornography, promoting a sexual performance by a child, interference with custody.
